Blake Museum Year 1 Infrastructure Action Plan 20 May 2009 - 31 March 2010
This jointly (MSC/FOBM) adopted infrastucture plan details the likely programme of BTC-funded infrastructure activity in the Museum 20 May - 30 March 2010. Support and assistance from volunteers will be as crucial to achieving success in providing the high quality infrastructure for our fine Museum. The work will run in parallel to, and in symbiosis with, the vital custodial activity.
1. Period 20 May - 31 August
Work possible during normal opening hours:
a) Cataloguing, identification, scanning & digitising, website development, graphics, compiling location index, marking objects, developing educational materials, supervising work experience (post-16 only) & general admin. New/refurbished displays in a carefully controlled & planned manner.
b) Garden. Friends' Room (4) refurbishment (out of public use)
c) External dilapidations
d) Installation of electric boiler and certain parts of heating system
Work possible on days of closure (e.g. Mondays)
e) Overcoating & touching up of new decorations
f) Installation of heating system not possible in d) above
g) Volunteer training & meetings; including preparation for new Trust
h) Laying of carpet to meeting room
Listed building consent will be sought in late August. FOBM invited to submit ideas to Musco by 1 June for discussion thereafter.
2. Period 1 September - Wednesday 11 November
As 1. a) to c)
Day closure work to include minor work in preparation for Listed Building consent.
3. Period 12 November - Tuesday 30 March 2010
Museum closed to the general public. [re-opens Wednesday 31 March].
External meetings & limited pre-planned visits (not involving upper floor other than Library).
Refurbishment & decoration of upper floor rooms & galleries.
